Meet Our Comfort Keepers®

Our team is uniquely qualified and ready to help

Every member of our team is professional and well trained. We conduct a thorough screening and interviewing process to identify the best home care providers, and only those who pass this process go on to complete training to deliver our special brand of home care and become Comfort Keepers®. What truly sets our people apart, though, is their natural gift for caring for others.

All Comfort Keepers pass extensive background checks and complete continuing education. They are bonded, insured and covered by workers' compensation insurance to protect our clients and their families.

Sandra Cassina

Sandra, a native Californian, is married to a life-long Educator and has mothered three fine men, the youngest of which is a college sophomore taking Business Admin at Walla Walla University in WA State as well as working as a counselor at a children’s summer camp.  Early on, Sandra obtained training as a CNA where she did general bed-side nursing as well as a stint in a convalescent hospital. Although it was heart breaking, as she felt the care was lacking in the quality they needed to thrive, she developed a life-time love for the elderly.

Sandra is an environmental chemist who, while working on a Master’s program at the University of Nebraska was awarded 2 US patents for a synthesis & purification project and later worked for many years for Dames and Moore – an Environmental Engineering firm out of San Francisco and of the Valdez fame.  For the past 15 years she has worked in the elder care industry, first as owner and Administrator of an RCFE (Residential Care Facility for the Elderly), in Sebastopol, CA and for the past few years as the same for Comfort Keepers in Home Care here in the North State and believes her experiences have uniquely prepared her to be a real asset to these communities.

Debbe J.

Admin - Office/HR

Deborah's love for caregiving began when she took care of a member of her church for two years, until the woman was committed to a 24 hour facility. After that, she began searching for a clerical position where most of her employment skills had been obtained. As providence had it, she ended up here at Comfort Keeper's where she enjoys the fulfillment of caring for the elderly in both worlds.

Deborah, nicknamed Debbe at birth in San Francisco, California, currently lives in Shasta County where she enjoys much of the recreational activities offered in this area, such as hiking and kayaking to name two. She is a mother of three children as well as a grandmother of three. Debbe takes every opportunity to be with her family, whether it is chatting with them long distance on the phone, emailing back and forth, or looking at recent photos of them on Facebook. When at home, working in her garden is her passion as she is a vegetarian and loves to watch them grow.

During his 25 year tenure he has established and rejuvenated several institutions which has involved significant marketing responsibilities. He was most recently at the Solano Community College District where he served as Dean of the Vallejo Campus for the past 10 years.

Currently, he serves Comfort Keepers in the role of Community Liaison where his experience in public relations will aid in marketing and sales.

Shannon D.

Having only a few years as an in-home caregiver, Shannon is still a fresh face in the career she was so clearly meant to pursue. This translates into a passion and demand for personal excellence few can summon to their professional lives, yet seems part and parcel to who she is. Shannon's exuberance for life is extraordinary. If she's smelling the roses, it's because she's found some new craft to try, not because she's stopped, Heavens no! If she's not busy making art (or soap, or candles, or..), you'll find her nose deep in the latest novel, or out gallivanting with her friends.

Born in Fountain Valley California, Shannon's sense of adventure led her up into the wilds of Alaska for a time, before she returned bursting with hard earned life experience. Her wanderlust was quelled, but her passion burned as bright as ever! Knowing only that she wanted to serve others, she took her inclination literally, and became a cook/waitress at a local restaurant. She thrived in the fast-paced environment, quickly climbing up to a management position; but managing a restaurant wasn't where her heart was, so when she was given the opportunity, she rolled her sleeves up and dove into caregiving... and never looked back.

Sandee G.

Sandee Grave is a native Californian who relocated to the North State from the San Francisco Bay area.  Her back ground initially was in Elementary Education.  She brings with her fourteen years of Caregiving experience, and she is proud to be called a Comfort Keeper.  She is always looking for opportunities for further development, and loves to bring a smile to those she works with!

Sandee enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, cooking, time with family, friends, and pets, as well as reading about various topics of interest and learning more about health and staying healthy.

Kathy M.

Kathy Moffett brings 5 years experience as an in-home care provider to work every day.

Kathy is a mother of two sons, and for the majority of the time, was a stay at home wife and mother. During that time, Kathy enjoyed homeschooling her boys. She had a father-in-law who was in bad health and took care of him until he passed away. This sparked Kathy's desire and love for caregiving. Bringing care and comfort to the elderly brings tremendous joy to Kathy's heart. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and being around the ones she cares for most.

Megan P.

Megan Phillips has almost 6 years of experience working with the elderly and disabled. She has worked with clients suffering from Alzheimer's disease and Dementia as well as clients on Hospice.

Megan was born in Salinas, CA and moved to Minnesota when she was 5. She moved back to California at the age of 15 and currently lives in Red Bluff, CA. She has a 6 year old daughter and is very close with her mother. Megan loves working with people and hopes to accomplish her goal of becoming an RN. She loves being able to help others and be there in a time of need whether it is for consoling or giving them that extra bit of help to maintain their independent lifestyle.

In her free time Megan loves to crochet, play video games, do activities with her daughter out on the ranch, catch up on her television shows, craft jewelry, draw, and read books. She says the best thing about reading is being able to go on an adventure that would be impossible to go on in reality. Taking a small break from reality never hurt anyone.

Joseph K. (Joey)

Joseph Karch, nick-named Joey, is a native of Redding and has been a caregiver for almost eight years.  He decided to become a caregiver after caring for his grandparents.  He has been married for three years and has a son almost two years old.

While living in Sacramento and working as a caregiver, Joseph completed the initial education needed to begin a degree in nursing and hopes to enter this field in the near future.  He and his wife are currently in the process of becoming state licensed foster parents, and hope to provide a caring environment for children in need.  His hobbies include music and gardening;  he plays the piano and trumpet, and enjoys planting vegetables to share with family and friends.

Ida S.

Ida brings to Comfort Keepers 4 years of care giving experience.  Originally from Fremont, California, she and her family moved to the North State in 1996 where she had her first experience with the elderly in an Alzheimer's/Dementia care facility.  As a faith based person, she noticed that many of the residents could not get out to church.  For 3 years before moving back to Fremont, she and her family conducted a weekly Sunday afternoon ministry where they would sing with the assistance of a resident’s daughter on the piano, followed by a Bible lesson by her husband. Now back in Redding, she is pleased to report that this ministry is still going on with about 25 attending.  She loves to learn what she can from the elderly, loves people and enjoys pleasing them.

Ida has been married to the love of her life for 33 years.  They have 5 wonderful adult children and 4 awesome grandchildren. In the first 10 years of her marriage, she chose to support her husband while he was completing his B.A. at Hyles Anderson College in Crown Point, Indiana.   She took a few classes alongside him as well as helped him study and typed his papers.  Over a period of time, she received her one-year General Studies Diploma in a variety of courses among which are Bible, Homemaking, Marriage and Family. In her free time, Ida loves to walk, swim, bike ride, skate, read and relax!

Chelbie has been caring for seniors her entire adult life. She states that she enjoys her work and that it is something  she is very passionate about.

Her goal in life is to move to Alaska with her husband. She would love to assist seniors in living in their homes long past what might have been possible on their own. Living in Alaska can be extremely rewarding, but also increasingly difficult for the senior community. I want to change that.

She says that she is and always will be a very caring and driven person. Making a difference in people’s lives rewards her in a way that keeps life blossoming.
